Representatives of leading manufacturers of coating equipment and coating facilities established the Coating Equipment Manufacturers Association of Japan on August 24, 1976. The founders declared the following objectives:
The Coating Equipment Manufacturers Association of Japan was initially inaugurated with 17 companies as regular members and an additional 10 companies as supporting members. Its membership has grown steadily ever since its establishment. By the end of March 2002, membership had expanded to include 26 regular member companies, 10 supporting member companies and 2 special member organizations.
The association's stated objective is the proposal of useful new ideas that will assist its member companies to help overcome the challenges experienced within the coating industry. In order to accomplish this goal, member companies strive to improve coating quality through the exchange of information, provide support to other members and assist each other in compensating for their respective shortcomings, particularly in terms of technology.
Through these efforts, the association conducts a variety of wide-ranging activities as a consortium, aiming to enhance quality and foresee future industry developments - in other words, working as an industrial association that promotes mutual coexistence and contributes to society.
Furthermore, in responding to rapid trends toward globalization, within this fiscal year we are planning to establish a new international division within our industry association. This international division will provide timely information and services to others involved in the coating industry, by leveraging our precise understanding of the tremendous variety of information that we have collected worldwide.
In addition, let us finally add that our association advocates the following principle of operation: "Participation of all members that is based upon the consent of each member".
